Since I was little I have loved books. I love the look of them, the smell, and especially the magic in reading them. When Hallie was born, one of the first gifts I ever purchased for her was a book. She has always loved them and my 2 year old Colton has followed in her footsteps. We read every night and if for any reason our routine changes Hallie and Colton definitely miss it. So when the opportunity to review Sushybye Sleepover Surprise with CD and the Close Your Eyes CD I was so excited.

Review:

My kids really did enjoy this book and cd. As soon as the book arrived we put the cd in my laptop and started reading along. Colton really got excited when he heard the Shushybye Train. He really started to go wild when the Shushybye theme song started because he loves his "Shuu shuu bye and Goo-nite". Hallie and Colton have been enjoying Baby First Tv for awhile so they were familiar with the residents of Shushybye. Both children loved the story and my 2 year old actually sat still for the entire book. Later that night my son enjoyed the Close Your Eyes CD to help him fall asleep. Shushybye is themed towards babys, toddlers, and pre-schoolers but even my 6 year old (going on 20) loved the book and the Close Your Eyes CD. Moms will love the positive message in the book and songs. Our favorite part is that the book cover glows in the dark! A couple of weeks have already passed since I received this book and cd and it is still very popular. I still find myself singing the songs as I'm changing laundry. My kids dance for hours to this CD. I highly recommend taking an adventure with all the Shushybyes!

Review: Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake DVD

It is a hip new twist on learning about ballet, featuring the Paris Opera Ballet and Students from School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center, Official Academy of New York City Ballet. Our 40 minute DVD is a cool, fun, beautiful show with a brain. Prima Princessa, an animated fairy ballerina, magically transports a group of little girls to see the Paris Opera Ballet perform select segments of Swan Lake. In between acts, the children return home to learn simple ballet steps which are playfully shown mixed into colorful montages of toys, animals, children and young dancers from the School of American Ballet.

The Halton Review: My daughter Hallie, took ballet when she was 4. Around the same time she was diagnosed with Leukemia and was unable to finish classes for that year. She went into isolation soon after treatment began. Two years later and she still misses ballet. She has several DVDs and never hesitates to watch any and all ballet shows she finds on TV. So when the opportunity to review Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake became available to me. Well, I jumped at the chance!
Mary Kate co-creator of Prima Princessa was so excited to tell me about her product that I knew a lot of love had went into it so I was even more excited. Hallie couldn't wait for the DVD to arrive and as soon as it did she popped it into the player. The verdict? She absolutely loved it. She said and I quote,"There is a cartoon ballerina Moma! Oh and real life ballerinas Moma. This is the greatest ballet movie ever Moma. I love Swan Lake Moma. Moma!! It has ballet classes on here too! Moma, they even know the names of the dances like my teacher does!" She loved it I'm still hearing tidbits of the story and about what dances she is learning. She has even started comparing it to her other ballet movies. I think she has a brand new favorite. Hallie decided to take it to a sleepover and share with friends. I think she takes after her moma, when you find a good product...ya share! I recommend picking up a copy for your ballet lover!

Review:
Beyond Blue by Therese Borchard is a one of the best Self Help books on depression I have ever read. The book is straight forward and honest about depression never loosing site of society's views on the disease itself. Beyond Blue is a caring, honest, often humorous, sometimes emotional look at life from a survivor of depression. Therese boldly talks of her battles with depression sharing her time spent in mental hospitals, counseling, and despair. Therese shares her no nonsense view on treating depression with a solid foundation of her research from holistic healing to medication to shock therapy. Therese tried it all and she shares her story with a whit and courage that is often times infectious. I would recommend this book if you are questioning depression in your life or the life of someone you love.

Review: How to Be Famous by Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt

Have you heard of these two? I know right, the laughs begin or the eyes start to roll the moment I think of them. But I have to admit over the years the infamous Speidi has grown on me. But I have often asked myself why are these people everywhere I look? They have to have some kind of magic potion. They are not actors or sports stars they're just reality stars. Sub-characters to boot! I was curious really curious. Honestly I've thought, I need a bottle of what they are using or at least an instruction guide. lol Leave to Speidi to come through for me! They've written a book folks one that chronicles their rise to the top. With quirky tidbits on how to "unlock the secrets of celebrity couple math" to ways to "Increase your capacity for evil with Spencer's "Villain-o-meter". The entire book is very tongue in cheek. You'll walk away from it with a lot more 'like' for these two I promise whether it be like or dislike is up too you though. They really cracked me up. The book was a huge page turner complete with pictures. I don't know about you but I love pictures. All I could do was laugh and shake my head at their shameless, no apologees guide to fame. I recommend you pick one up and pass it along to a friend. We all need a good laugh and these two once again deliver! If you're too shy to buy one at the local bookstore I suggest picking one up online. They retail for $19.99, Spencer says that's about 4 OK! Magazines lol.
